Spot Color Separations

Patti

What type of graphic files will work in Publisher 2002 for
spot color separations? I've had trouble in the past. I
need to be able to print hard copy (laser) for a mom and
pop print shop for offset printing. I've had some
problems with various files in the past...and a guy is
getting a graphic ready for me to use and I want to be
sure to tell him what type of file will work and what will
not.
Thanks.

And jpg, bmp, eps, etc. If you are getting some incorrect seps, see the
below article:

Publisher 2003 has dramatically improved it's color seps and output
including support for CMYK composites

It does cover Raster. It says convert to one color! :)

Would you believe this mom and pop shop does not even have
a computer?
-----Original Message-----
WMF is the easiest.
Surely even a mom and pop print shop can take a PDF file.

You may want to introduce the mom and pop print shop to
Serif PagePlus as it is the ideal program for a small
print shop.

If they haven't got a computer, I'd class them more as a copyshop than a
print shop
(Unless they've got some kind of computer-alternative-product-type-thing)

<<Publisher does not support spot colors in a non-Encapsulated PostScript
(.eps) picture, or in any raster graphic format (with the special exception
of Duotones as described in the "More Information" section). >>

a jpg is a raster format.

Bitmaps/raster/images (all pixel based rather than vector/equation/object
based) do not have the ability to preserve spot color information in a
manner that an appication can use it. Meaning...no spot colors from stuff
like this except by kludges such as recoloring within the application.

Exactly! As I stated in my other post.

Sure can. Just not color seps, just as a single spot color (unless of course
you do a recolor edit in the dtp program).
