Spotlight search in long Word docs

In April I sent a ‘bug’ report to Apple:

“For a few years now, I notice that Spotlight doesn't do a contents
search of largish Word docs after a certain number of pages. So if you
search for a word that you know is towards the end of a large Word
doc, Spotlight will not find it .
This is quite limiting since MS Word is a fairly widely used Word
processor.
I'm not sure whether this is a Microsft issue or an Apple issue, but
it is frustrating to say the least.”

After 4-5 months I got back the following reply:

“ Microsoft has resolved this bug as fixed. The fix will be available
in future release Microsoft product release.”

One can only hope.

I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed :)

It's not entirely true. As far as I know, the required Spotlight
mdimporters for Office are indeed made by MS, but they are released
through Apple in the System updates. That was the case in the past at
least and I would be really really surprised if they changed that.
I would look for it in a future Apple update.....
