Spurious add-in

Running XP Pro SP2 and OUtlook 2003 - PST file copied from a Office 2000

When starting Outlook error message:

"......Application Data\ Microsoft\ Addins\c:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\SBCMSYNC.DLL" is not a valid Add-in.

The addin does not appear in the addin list so itr can not be deselected

Have tried deleting Extend.dat

Small Business Contact Manager is not installed on the machine and was not
installed on the machine donation the PST file.

Detect & rebuild does not fix problem.

See if the DLL is referenced in this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions

If so, remove the value it's mentioned in

Vince - Thanks but SBCMSYNC.DLL is not mentioned in the registry

Hmmm, is it mentioned anywhere in the registry?

No that particular key does not exist and SBMSYNC is not mentioned at all
