Spurious message before printing starts

I have a one-page document with 0.5" top & side borders. Displayed in
Print-Layout view, I see nothing even touching the borders, much
less protruding beyond them.

However when I try to print the document, I get the pop-up "The
margins of section 1 are set outside the printable area of the page.
[snip]". Yet when I click "Yes" to continue, the document prints as
intended.

I'm running MS Office Word 2003 over WinXP-Pro/SP3. My printer is an
HP Deskjet D2300.

An ideas?
TIA,
Richard

Bottom margin? Don't know what that minimum is but some HP Deskjets have a
..7" bottom margin need.

The other issue may be that there is an issue with the Normal.dot template
that has a "section" set up that is outside the normal margins. When you
select all (Ctrl + A) in a document and you go to page setup then click on
the three tabs at the top of the page does the Preview, Apply to: Whole
Document show or does the words Selected Sections show? If the latter you
have a section set up instead of a flowing document in one section.

Hi LV,

Thank you very much for your comprehensive reply.
HP Deskjets have a .7" bottom margin need.

I may have hit upon that after a lot of trial-and-error, but I
probably would have given up before finding it. I gave it 0.75" ....
just a little extra margin :)
Whole Document

I checked that on my machine and confirmed "Whole Document".

But I'm actually trying to fix this document for my daughter who lives
a half-hour away and has her own computer and printer. So I'll check
all this stuff and set appropriate parameters for her machine.

Best wishes,
Richard
