spurious repeat entries across worksheets

Please respond to me with suggestions on this recurrent problem. I am
a frequent user of EXCEL for at least the last 15 years

Occasionally when I make date text or numeric entries into row across
a data file with several worksheets( say 10 or more), the entry is
copied at the same cell reference position to several more recently
set up worksheets but not to all the other worksheets in the set .
When the offending data is deleted on occasion but not always more
spurious entries appear.

This give me grave doubts on the veracity of the other data in the
spreadsheet and causes me real concern.

Suggestions please

Are you perhaps making entries with more than one worksheet selected?

Hi Ed -

I'm afraid it really isn't clear whether you're intending to "drill down"
through multiple worksheets and the process is partially failing or whether
you're trying to enter into only one worksheet but the data seems to be
bleeding over to some others unintentionally.

Can you be more specific about what you're attempting to do, how you're
doing it, & how the result deviates from what's expected? It might also be
helpful to know what specific version of Excel you're working with.
