Sqaured, cubed, etc...

Does anybody know where I can get the symbols beyond
squared and cubed? For the numbers 4 through 9? Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks.

Type the number, select it, and press Ctrl+Plus Sign (Ctrl+Shift+=).

Hello Suzanne.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, the shortcut you
mentioned does not solve my problem, but rather creates a
footnote. The symbols for "squared" and "cubed" are
actually smaller than the footnote symbols (I need both
set of symbols).

The Insert-->Symbol option in Windows gives me
the "smaller" mathematical numbers for "1", "2", and "3".
I would love to get my hands
on "4", "5", "6", "7", "8", "9", and "0".

Any additional thoughts?

I believe your question on this in word.printingfonts has been adequately
answered, but to repeat the answer here, Arial Unicode is not installed by
default because it is so huge. You will need to rerun setup (Control Panel |
Add/Remove Programs) to add this component.

I would have thought so to. It appears Microsoft is no
longer offering that font for free. I can't find the
bugger thing anywhere, even though many of my programs
supposedly include it for free. Do you know of a site?

Thanks again for all your help by-the-by.

It is on your Word/Office CD; you just have to install it. You must do this
by rerunning Setup.

Okay, believe it or not, I figured out how to install the
unicode font.

Thanks for your patience.

Except now I don't know what you mean by "use the
superscript numerals" "or superscript subset".

Right now, there are only three numbers for mathematical
equations, "1", "2" for squared, and "3" for cubed. I need
number 0 and 4 through 9 that are identical in size to 1,
2, and 3 (not footnote size).

Are the superscript numberals you mentioned indentical in
size to the mathematical 1, 2, and 3 currently provided?
Where do I find them?

Thanks yet again.

In the upper right-hand corner of the Insert | Symbol dialog, there is a
scroll box labeled "Subset." Scroll this till you find the Superscripts and
Subscripts subset. The character range for the superscripts is 2070 to 2079.
Interestingly, it jumps from 2070 (the 0) to 2074 (the 4) as if it had been
planned to include 1, 2, and 3 even though these are present elsewhere in
the Unicode character set (at 00B2, 00B3, and 00B9, with the zero repeated
at 00BA).

Suzanne.

Thank you for hand holding me through this whole
procedure. I found them thanks to you, and this solves all
my Microsoft Word problems.

Now here's the slap in my face.

The reason I've been looking for these symbols in the
first place is so that I can export them (by simply
cutting and pasting) into Dreamweaver MX for web
publishing. Now while 1, 2, and 3 work (using the
Dreamweaver codes "&sup1", "&sup2", and "&sup3"), the
codes for 0 and 4 through 9 do not. By logical extension I
tried "&sup4", "&sup5", "&sup6", etc. but no luck.

So unless you can think of anything else, it seems my
problem has to migrate to the Dreamweaver forums.

Thank you so much for you continued help on this issue.
I'll check back once more to see if you've replied.

It would appear that Dreamweaver (and, by extension, HTML) does not support
the extended Unicode character set. Does HTML support superscript
formatting? If so, I would suggest that you use that for all your exponents
and abandon the idea of using the superscript font characters.
