SQL query in Word doc

I have a word doc that I created in 2003, probably using Word XP although
perhaps Word 2003. When I open it in Word 2003, I get a message that opening
the doc will run an SQL SELECT * FROM [file in My Data Sources] command.

The document has some embedded graphics (which are not in that data source
file), but as far as I can tell, there is no field in it that wants to be
updated with any data. How can I reveal where the link is and disconnect it?
It's a pretty simple 1-page doc.

It sounds as if the document is currently set up as a mail merge main
document.

My best guess is that if that is so, either
a. respond to the questions in a way that disposes of as much e-mail
information as possible or
b. close your document, create a new blank document, then insert your Word
2003 document (I don't thin you will see the SQL dialof box in that case,
but if you do, I'd just back out.

It sounds as if the document is currently set up as a mail merge main
document.

This was not a mail merge main document, but coincendentally was a one-page
set of instructions explaining how to edit the data source file *for* a mail
merge.

My best guess is that if that is so, either
a. respond to the questions in a way that disposes of as much e-mail
information as possible or

This didn't work. The error message said, "data from your database will be
placed in the document. Do you want to continue?" And the expanded help
message said, "If this is expected behavior and you want to retrieve the
data, click Yes." Clicking "Yes" made the message go away, but because there
were no fields, nothing got "placed in the document" (at least nothing
visible). And the message would pop up again each time the doc was opened,
even though "Yes" had been selected.

I created a new blank document and then used Insert > File to insert the
problem doc. The message popped up. I clicked "Yes" and then saved the file
under a new name. This had the desired effect: opening the new doc doesn't
result in the message any more. Whereever the link was embedded, it's now
broken.

For future reference I think you probably should have tried "No".
