SQL Server 2000

I am a very new user of Access (just one day old!).

When I look at the Sample Data Base (NW access project), I was asked to
install SQL server 2000 from the MSDE2000 folder in the Office CD. I did.
When I try to install (setup.exe) it asks for the password SAPWD which I
don't know where to get it. Can anyone give some directions?

By default, SQL installs with a user "sa" (short for System Administrator)
with a blank password. Just don't type anything at all when asked for the
password - just carriage return.

Of course, leaving this default set on a computer would be most unwise - you
should assign sa a strong password very early on.

SQL security is a fairly complex topic but a very important one, and I'd
strongly suggest reading up on it.

But I am not even given a chance to hit carriage return. No dialog box.
Nothing. Just a "Select a SQL Server" message box requesting for the SAPWD.

SA is disabled by default

people should use the command line arguments in order to SET a good SA
password when you install MSDE

yes; this should be easier-- but MS is trying to discourage people from
using SQL Authentication.. instead of making SQL Authentication _SECURE_
they are bundling it with Active Directory and making SQL Authentication
'too complex and difficult to implement'
