SQL Server for AutoDiscovery?

Can I use SQL Server 2000 rather than MSDE for AutoDiscovery? I can't seem
to find a way to do this.

not a problem. I make a point of ensuring that sql server is installed first
to avoid the issue. this also helps in that with access to the visio network
object model you can develop your own queries and reports.

I also am trying to use my SQL server for Visio, what do I need to configure
so it works, I did have the server installed before visio and I am an
administrator on the server but autodiscovery only prompts me to leave MSDE
running or stoping it when I try to run it.

does SQL server and Visio need to be on the same machine ?
