SSP Creation error

M

Mike Baugh

I am running project server 2007 on windows 2003 r2 sp1 and sharepoint
services 3.0.

IIS 6.0, sql 2005 and sharpeoint services 3.0 are all on the same server.

I have followed instructions to create ssp. When I go to provision the
project server site on the farm and click on project web access sites from
the shared services administration page I receive the following error:

The Project Application Service doesn't exist or is stopped. Start the
Project Application Service.

I have searched and cannot find anything that might offer solution to this.

The account that is running the ssp has temporarily been made a domain admin
so all rights and permissions should be available.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Many thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

Today I had the same problem, have you tried to start Project Application
Service.
This can be done by these steps:
1. On the top navigation of the Central Administration page, click Operations.
2. On the Operations page, in the Topology and Services section, select
Services on server.
3. On the Services on Server page for this computer, in the section titled
Select server role to display services you will need to start in the table
below, select Custom (to list all farm services on the server).
4. There you will see Project Application Service with status "Stopped",
start it.

Then you can follow instructions described in "Deployment for Office Project
Server 2007" guide which can be found here:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Offic...f1bd-40fe-a1e9-25d31e93a2db1033.mspx?mfr=true these steps are described there on page 32.

Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 is great!

many thanks for the response. I did that and that fixed the issue. I was
looking for a windows service not a sharepoint service.

Once again many thanks for the help. I can continue installation now.

Jan:

"I was looking for a windows service not a SharePoint service."

The margins between the two are becoming very obscure. More and more it
seems, Windows services are controlled through or accessible through
SharePoint administration. Some might suspect a trend.
