Stacked combos - how to clear data before requery

I am working in XP and Access 2007. I created a combo that feeds into a
second combo box. The After Update works, but the second combo still has the
last record showing in it, and the first row is a blank. Is there a way to
clear the old record and get rid of the blank in the after update?
