STACKED RESOURCE HISTOGRAMS

Sandra

Anyone know how I can get resource data out of Project
2000 and into Excel so that I can create a stacked
resource histogram showing peak units against time for a
project team containing a number of resources?

Hi Sandra,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

On the Analysis tool bar, try the Analyse Timescaled Data in Excel... macro.
However, you can show this within Project - please see FAQ Item: 38.
Combined Resource Graph. FAQs, companion products and other useful Project
information can be seen at this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)

Thanks Mike, but I've already tried the overall histogram
view and the problem is my client wants only one bar per
time unit, with the resources stacked on top of each
other, in different colours per 'trade'.

Also, I already tried the Analyse Timscaled Data and
couldn't get it to work. I'm using the Resource Usage
View. I've downloaded and installed the Addin Wizard, but
whenever I click on the ATD button, nothing happens.

Any help you can offer would be most appreciated.

Sandra,
It sounds like you are having a devil of a time getting things to work
on your PC. I don't understand why the Analyze Timescaled Data in Excel
Add-in doesn't work - I can only surmise there is something funky with
your configuration. Although you may have said in an earlier post, what
OS are your running and what version of Project are you using?

As I recall, your client's need was yesterday (isn't it always). Several
months ago I wrote a macro for a client that does pretty much what you
want, although it probably needs some modification. It will dump the
individual resource data into Excel. From that point the stacked
histogram will have to be added via code or it can be generated
manually. Do you have any VBA experience? If you are interested, write
me direct.
