Stacking frustration

I believe this is a stacking issue as the form acts as if everything is
stacked (all changes happen to all text boxes at once) I have tried to remove
stacking but the options are grayed out?
I originally used the snap to grid option with all controls highlighted and
now I cannot select an individual control; when I select one everything on
form highlights and is affected when a change is made.
Has anyone had this issue and is there a way to get back to being able to
work with individual controls without making the form all over again from
scratch?

Access 2007 on winxp

I don't have A2007 here, so this may not be 100% accurate, but
open the form in design view, select the controls in question, go
to the Arrange tab and select Remove.

That is what I have already tried.
Unfortunately all of the options are greyed out and I cannot remove or
create stacks using the options at the top of the screen or by right clicking

Are you sure you didn't use the GROUP button in addition to the stack. If
that is enabled then it keeps the stack and remove buttons grayed out until
you ungroup.
