That depends on what "do" does. ;-)

If you want to create presentations, then no.

If you just need to display them, then yes, you can do it with the free
PowerPoint viewer, and even do it so that the viewer needn't be installed on
the target system:

Converting the presentation to HTML is another option; then all you'd need
on the target computer is a browser. Hard to find a target computer w/o one
of those.

"Do" is very simple. It will be only slides and no

pictures.

going animations with photographs. It's just not nearly
as fast as the Viewer, PPVIEW32, is.

However, the Viewer cannot handle animations added after
PP97. Does anyone know if MS is planning an updated
viewer to handle all the newer effects?

They are indeed. It should be compatible in the main with all versions of
PPT through 2003.

Office 2003 should be out in late October; we're hoping (expecting) to see
the viewer around then too.
