"Standard" font and charts

In the preferences window, I've set the "standard" font on Excel as
Arial 11 point. When I draw a chart, however, Excel uses Calibri
(Body) 10 point. I NEVER want to use Calibri. Is there a easy way to
get Excel to use the "standard" font in a chart? I prefer not to
create user defined charts.

I'm using Excel 12.1.9 and Mac OS X.5.7 on a new 2.66 GHz quad core
Mac Pro.
Thanks,

Ed

Unfortunately this can't be done - at least not in a simple, straightforward
manner - in 2008. Smart Art Objects are controlled by the Document Theme,
not by the default settings for the sheets. AFAIK, the default Theme used
for SAGs cannot be customized or specified. Perhaps the next release of
Office will offer more in that respect. In the mean while...

In the Document Theme section of the Formatting Palette you can select from
a variety of font combinations. You can also directly change the font &
color scheme formatting of a chart then save a Custom Theme. Any Custom
Theme will appear at the beginning of those in that section of the Palette.

You might also want to review a thread which occurred earlier this week here
in the same group with the Subject of: user-defined charts

Bob,
Thanks. I was afraid that would be the answer. Microsoft should
correct this.
