Standard Format for Pre_Existing Chart

Thank you for looking at my question. I have inherited a PowerPoint 2003
presentation that is full of charts that have been collected from all over
the place. I havenm't even gotten to teh data yet. The very first thing I
noticed is that all of the charts are formatted differently using different
colors and different chart types. Basically I want to do two things...Most
importantly I want to change the color schemes to match. The next step would
be to standardize other formats relating to the chart type. Unfortunately I
really haven't had any luck learning how to do this. There are about 100
charts. I feels like each one of them has its own "quirky" color patterns.
HELP!!! any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You can read here to learn about where charts get their colors:

http://www.echosvoice.com/colorschemes.htm (read the two color schemes
pages, then check color schemes and MS Graph).

Once you understand that, then you can set up a slide color scheme, and then
map your chart colors to the appopriate swatches in that row of the chart
color palette.

I'd do that on one, then set up everything else the way you want. Once
you've done that, right-click the chart, choose Chart Type | Custom Types |
User Defined | Add.

After you've added your custom type, you can apply it to the existing
charts. You may have to remap the color swatches manually, though -- that
is, point each data point to the swatches in the row represented by the
color scheme. Just depends on how the originals were set up.

Hi,

I will recommend you select a chart which is ok with respect to your color
scheme and save it as template. Then you need to just select the other charts
and change the chart type to saved template. You will achieve uniformity in
all the slides wrt chart type and color schemes.

To save the chart template, select the chart go to chart tools and save
Chart template. Hope this helps.

In 2003 try this:

Open a chart that is formatted as you want
Choose Chart> Chart Type > Custom Types >User defined > Add

To apply to other charts open the chart > custom types > user defined and
double click the name of the user defined chart you set.
