Standard Toolbar is missing

Somehow, the standard toolbar is missing in my Access2003. I cannot see
File, Tools, Insert, Edit, etc, and when I manage to get into the customize
toolbars, there is no help there. Without being able to get into "tools" and
its "options" I am lost. How do I get this back?

Right-click on any toolbar or menu bar and select 'Customize'. In the list,
select 'Menu Bar' and click the 'Reset' button.

thanks for your response. However, if I right click on the toolbar currently
in place and select "customize", I do not see an option for "menu bar" in my
list of Toolbars, Commands, or Options. Under Toolbars, I skip from Macro
Design to Page Design with nothing in between. What a mystery.

Your database is suspect IMO. 'Menu Bar' should definitely be there. Try
creating a new mdb and importing everything into that (DON'T put a check
next to 'Menus and Toolbars'). Custom toolbars will have to be re-created -
a pain but necessary.

I am not sure what you mean by MIO but apparently the MS access is messed up
because whether you build new, or import into a new DB, or lookat other DB's,
the 'menu bar" option is not there. This problem happens to be on my work
laptop and I am using it at home on my vacation to make DB adjustments.
So............this is a real pain. I would assume that when I get back into
work, I will need to have our techs reload Access. Would you agree with
this? On my home laptop the "menu bar" is there as clear as can be, so I
know that it should be on the work one as well.

IMO means 'In My Opinion'. From what you say I think I'd agree with your
diagnosis. Reload Access (with fingers crossed). It only takes a few mins
and it's better to be safe than sorry ('belt and braces' as my dad used to
say).

Hope that gets you going...
