Start and Finish date display format change

I would like to change the START and FINISH format. I got
a MS project file displaying for example Oct 4'04 in the
START or FINISH field. But I would like to change it to
display Mon, 1/28/04. For whatever reason I can't change
it to display this format or any other. This project was
created by some one else and would like to make the
necessary changes to display date(s) of the week. I
checked the permissions on this file and I have full
access so I know is not permissions.

Please help!!!

Warington,
You don't say how you tried to change the format but what you should do
is the following: Go to Tools/Options/View Tab. In the Date format
selection box, find the format you want to use. That should do it.

Try going to TOOLS / OPTIONS / VIEW You can then change
the format of the displayed date.

What do you mean? If you want the European format rather than the American
that is defined by the regional settings in Windows not in Project
