Start date, end date and duration

Newby

I am using Project in a simple planning sense without any need to allocate resources atthis stage

When entering in new tasks I am entering a start date and a simple duration of 1 day and the finish date is 4 or 5 days away

How do I get the finish date to equal the start date plus duration

I have tried all the tools options to ensure I have a normal calendar and that my new tasks are not effort driven

Instead of putting in 1 day, put in 1 eday. The 'e' in
front of the day will take it to the next day and does not
look at the calendar.

Hi Newby,

As you will read n a million posts in this group, avoid putting in start
dates.
Project is for calculating start dates (for instance, from links between
tasks) and when you use a software, it is a bit awkward to feed in the
result of a calculation it wants to do.

Furthermore, take a look at

http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm
Faq 5. Default Working hours

(BTW when you do not have resources, task types and efoort driven do not
come into play)
