Start date wont change...

I have a task (task2) that is dependent on another task (task1). Neither of
them have any percent complete logged against them. Task1 is down in the list
of all tasks and it's start date is 13-Oct-2009... Task2 shows a start date
of 31-Aug-2009 and nothing I do will make Task2..

I just tried to outdent and indent Task2 and it woked but is screwed up a
bunch of other stuff....

If you are using Microsoft Project 2007, click Project - Tasks Drivers and
then select Task2. The Task Drivers sidepane will reveal the reason for the
scheduled Start date of Task2. Study very carefully what you see in the
Task Drives sidepane. You may have an accidental Actual Start date, a
backwards dependency (Finish to Start from Task2 to Task1 instead of the
other way around), or something else. Let us know what you find.
