Hi All,
I have a simple schedule in project 2000 and it has me completely
baffled.
The problem is that the calculated duration in days does not match
the calculated start and finish dates. For example I have a task of
30 hrs work resourced at 100% at 2.5 hrs / day (default work day for
the resourse). The calculated duration is 12 days, which is right. The
start date is shown as the 28/9/04 and the finish date as 5/10/04
(australian date format). This is an elapsed time of only 8 days. Why
does this not match the
calculated duration.
Many tasks in the schedule have a similar problem and hence the
schedule is shown as finishing months early in the Gant chart. The
resources are never shown at more than 100%.
I have now seen this problem in two separate schedules. In the first
case I thought nothing of it because it was only a few tasks and I
just set the dates manually. In the current schedule there are many
tasks with this problem. I need to understand why and how to fix it.
I have not set any fixed start or end dates. I simply built the WBS,
added the resources, predecessors and work in hours. MS Project
calculated the
durations and dates.
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be ???
Thanks,
Steve
