Start up and then nothing

I booted my computer this morning, and went to start
Word. As soon as the blank page came up, the screen went
blank and the computer shut off. Now, I cant seem to get
the comp to power up again?

Any ideas?

This is most likely a hardware problem; perhaps your power supply has died?

When you turn on the power, what exactly happens?

Not awhole lot. Hopefully by the time I get home from
work, they will have fixed the power outage in my
neighborhood, and I will be able to shed some light on
the subject

Actually, I think the punch line goes something like:

Take the computer back to the store and tell them you are returning it
because you aren't smart enough to own one. <grin>

I think it's due to someone trying to start April Fools Day a little
early. ;-)
