Starting Access

When I attempt to start Access I get the error
message: "Can't find the database you specified, or you
didn't specify a database at all." Clicking on the OK
button closes the program completely. Any ideas what is
wrong?

John,
If you are starting Access from an icon, check the Properties of that
icon, particularly the "Target"...
Here's an example of a Target statement that Opens Access, and forces
Access to then open a specified database (mdb)

C:\Access97\Office\MSACCESS.EXE c:\Access97\Files\PARTSPROG.mdb

If PartsProg.mdb is not where you've specified, you'll get the failure
you see.
Check out "command line" OR "Start Microsoft Access with command-line
options" in Help for more info.

No, I'm simply clicking on the Microsoft Access icon on
Start -> Programs menu OR clicking on the Start -> New
Office Document icon and selecting one of the access
wizards I do not yet have an access database to open; it
won't let me create one!

John

PS could it mean that these wizards are not where access
thinks they are? If so, how do I change their location?

"Can't find the database you specified normally means that you're in an
opening an exisitng file mode.

Make sure you're actually creating a new database.
