Starting OneNote

I just bought a new laptop and it came with Microsoft Office 2003. Every
program included in it works except OneNote. I tried to open it and it asked
for the product key. I tried both the product key on the back of the Office
envelope and also the key on the Certificate of Authenticity. When entered, a
window pops up and says that they are invalid. I called Microsoft and they
said they would send another product key but they never did. When I called
back, they said to call Toshiba technical support. I did, and they said to
call Microsoft.
I am at a loss!

The Office 2003 key doesn't work for OneNote it needs its own key. If
your laptop included a full version of OneNote then you should have a
OneNote key there someplace. If not what you have is the trial version
and there isn't a key for that - you just activate it as a trial and it
will expire in...60 days if I recall correctly.

Since it's a Toshiba notebook I'm pretty sure you got the full version of
OneNote (last I heard all Toshiba machines ship with OneNote now) so you
should have a key included in your packaging. You might try Toshiba
customer service instead of technical support. The Tech Support guys
might just be clueless. Where did you buy the laptop from?

If this helps. I have the R15. The number is on a piece of paper packed
with the other MS materials. It has the OneNote brand and the MS
certificate on it as well. It is easy to put to the side becasue it is
packed in with the CDs and other paperwork.
