Startup folder

This is pretty weird, but weird things happening seem to be the norm for
Excel...

I'm seeing files of mine duplicate themselves into the startup folder. It's
so bizarre, I don't expect anyone to be able to answer it, but I have to
ask.

I'll have to admit - you've come up with a few stumpers... said:

Throw us a bone, kevs...

All files? or only some? Always? or only sometimes?

Do they duplicate if you open and immediately close your workbooks? Or
only if you explicitly save them?

What is your default file location set to in Preferences/General? Do you
have an alternate startup file set in the same location?

Do you have any event macros running that use the
BeforeSave/BeforeClose/Workbook_Deactivate events?

Do you have any Applescript Folder Actions operating?

Thanks JE:
In startup items, I have workbook, and personal macro workbook. This issue
is so far too intermittent and inconsistent to analyze, but I swear, I have
seen two files in that startup folder that no one put there. But last few
days everything is normal.

" What is your default file location set to in Preferences/General? Do you

Yes: there, I set the startup folder to be in Documents, Microsoft user data
( instead of apps folder)

Don't think have even macros or apple script going on. Have like four
macros on toolbar.

By the way JE, was hoping to see what you say to those threads "printing
multicolumn document", and "previews well, but gets crunched"

I sent my replies to your questions , one even with a screen shot. Let me
know.

Your a great brain JE, always appreciate your terrific help!!!!!!!
