startup page in 2010

I have gone through all the motions .Unticked outlook today and saved,then
file, options,advanced, outlook start and exit but when I restart it goes
back to outlook today.What am I missing

It sounds like you've done everything right. If you go back into the Options dialog box, are you saying that the options have changed or is it that Outlook simply ignores them?
