Startup Pane keeps loading at startup

Can anyone help me figure out why my task pane on the right hand side of the
screen won't stop loading? I can turn it off manually each time from the
VIEW, TASK PANE option but of course it continues to come up next time. I
also tried turning it off in the TOOLS, GENERAL, STARTUP PANE option and it
still comes up automatically at startup. Is there a registry setting
somewhere?
