Startup templates

I would like to make a particular macro set (developed by me) available
generally within Publisher (2003) each time I open it - and to be able
to run them from custom toolbar buttons. With Word this can be done by
putting the template containing the macros into the Startup folder so
that it operates as a global template. With Excel it works a bit
differently as it seems that all such macros have to be in a workbook
called personal.xls which is then stored in the XLStart folder. What
is the procedure in Publisher 2003, please?

Unfortunately, there is no global template in Publisher on which all new
documents are based (normal.pub is the normal template, but new documents
just copy style information from that, nothing else)

To have toolbars available in all publications, you might consider creating
a Publisher add-in. Unfortunately, this requires a programming application
such as Visual Basic 6 or Visual Studio .NET.

A guide to creating a Publisher add-in with Visual Basic 6 is here:

Thanks Ed. I was slightly anticipating a reply on these lines - it
just goes to show that Publisher can't really be considered a part of
the Office suite, even though it masquerades as such. It looks as
though the only simple, if cumbersome and time-consuming, solution is
to import the desired macro(s) into each of the templates that one
normally uses and resave them.
