Startup Word with Designmode turned off

How do I configure Word 2000, to startup with the design
mode turned off? I'm trying to put together a Survey
sheet with a few control buttons, and when I open the
document I need to turn the Control toolbar Design mode
off, before I can use the control buttons.

I would like the document to open and have the users just
be able to click on the required control buttons without
having to turn the design mode off first.

Thanks

Jacob

The bad news is that documents containing macros and/or controls from
the Control Toolbox always open in Design Mode when the macro security
level is set to High.

You can set your security level to Medium, and after clicking Enable
in the security message every time you open the document, you'll see
the document with Design Mode turned off.

But there's no way that you can affect the security mode on your
users' PCs -- obviously, if your code could change the security level,
so could any virus code. If they have their level set to High, they'll
open the document in Design Mode.

There are really only two solutions: Digitally sign your document, or
don't use controls from the Control Toolbox. Look into a userform as
an alternative.
