Static map does not display

I previously inserted a static map using Web Component
Expedia Maps. Before the map would show but now it does
not. I have applied both service packs 1 and 2 and still
the same issue even after reinserting. I have also tried
the solutions on Microsoft Knowledge Base for the red "X"
in place of the graphic. Still the same problem. Help!!!

You may want to search the forums as I remember this same
issue within the last month or so. If you have a url or the
url of the exact map we may be able to get that map as a gif
image so you wouldn't need to use the expedia component

In FrontPage 2002 the web component Expedia Maps gives the
option to either show a link to the desired map or display
a static map with a link included.

If you read the copyright information on Expedia's website
it says, "Expedia.com Maps are provided for your personal,
non-commercial use. For example, you can print a map to
refer to when you're away from your computer. Use on an
intranet site for a commercial enterprise (profit or non-
profit) is not permitted. No Web site may share the
Expedia.com site in an HTML frame. Copyright law does not
allow you, for example, to copy a map for commercial
publication (as in a newsletter or magazine), or to post a
map on a computer bulletin board or the World Wide Web.
These examples only illustrate, and are not meant to
summarize, applicable law."

This seems like it would be unlawful to display their map
on my website even though FrontPage is giving me that
option.

Mapquest has the same verbage and does not allow you to
display the map on your web page, but only to provide a
link to the map. It seems that the policy has changed
regarding displaying a static map.

To view the page with the problem go to www.global-
construction.com/newglobal/Contact.htm

I can use Microsoft Maps if this is really the case.
thanx :) Kathy

For a while Expedia and MSN components were changing/upgrading their links
Delete the map component and re-insert it, to see if the new link is correctly generated

The Expedia / MSN Components (in FP) are licensed for use by FP users

I don't know if the other reply here will work or not, as I
am still using FP2000. I have copies of MS MapPoint and MS
Streets & Trips, their EULAs allow you to generate maps for
web pages and post them online, as long as they are not
being sold or sub-licensed. If you would like a gif of your
map email me: mmueller at lannonfire dot com
