Status Bar Number/Number multiple paginations for 1 document

When ever a long word document (136 pages, a lot of hidden
text) is opened up using Windows XP, we get multiple
Status Bar Number/Number paginations (e.g., 1 of 100,
through 100 of 100, and then repeating several times).

This behavior is annoying and does not appear on other
PCs. Any ideas of what could be causing this?

Word is just requiring a bit of time to paginate the document when you open
it. This can take an appreciable time for long documents (which yours is
not, though it's somewhat complex) or on slow systems.
