Status Bar Problem - Word 2007

The status bar's Section, Page, At, Line, and Column itmes don't dispaly
correctly: they all show a count of one and sometimes they don't show up at
all even though they are selected under the Customize Status Bar option.
Too, Words (word count) is alway grayed out.

I've tryed starting Word in safe mode without success--none of the items
that are selected show up except the grayed out Words.

Any ideas?

Have you installed a local, compatible printer driver? Are you in Print
Layout View?

I suggest first step would be to run the Repair option.

Ran Office Diagnostics and it fixed one problem but my issue remains
unresolved.

How long has this been not working correctly. I just cannot understand what
is stopping pagination from working. If you insert the 'Page x of y' fields
in the footer, do they update correctly? At the moment I can only think of a
broken/incompatible printer driver. It just doesn't make sense.
