status bar sum function

on status bar, you amy select function to present, for example, sum of
selected cells
problem is that on my excel, there is written "total sum=2E+06", which is
very un-accurate
obviously, exponential form is chosen by the reason of large number of
digits in number

but, it is a sad thing that the most part of the field is occupied by the
fixed text "total sum=" [in my localized language version, this text is even
longer]

it would be much more clever to keep all diggits displayed, and in the case
of space shortage, to shorten the fixed text, wouldn't it?

so, question is:
is there some way to customize the display format on that status bar field?

Excel appears to use the number format you set in the Normal style. Go into
Format, Style to change it.

Just to add to Jim's response...

First, styles live in workbooks, so you'll have to change the normal style in
every workbook that you want this behavior.

Second, I wouldn't do this if you're going to enter dates and you don't want to
change the format from that new Normal Style back to a date (same thing with
times and currency and ...).

it works as it has now a fixed number format
well, having to change every worksheet is not a such a bad idea, since
special number format is quite a rare occasion, and a general format is
preserved

but, is it possible to avoid *text* part of sum field display? the text
"total sum="?
having it dissappear completely, or just minimized to few letters should
leave plenty of room for number display, and number display is the real
purpose of that status bar field, isn't it?

ok.

just to mention [just as a wish], it would be fantastic if could be
controlable like some of the application properties [like
application.statusbar is].
the calculaton of display value could be controlled through the worksheet
selection change event
