How do I view the formula used to create a field. I'm trying to find the formula for the status field and the status indicator field
Thanks

RightMouseButton the header above the column (which will open a pop-up) and
click on "Customize Fields ..."

If there is a formula for the field then the radio-button to the left of the
button labelled "Formula" will be "on" and clicking on the Formula button
will show the formula.

If there is a graphic indicator then the radio-button to the left of the
button labelled "Graphical Indicators ..." will be on "on" and the clicking
on the "Graphical Indicators ... " button will show you the test, the values
and the indicators.

Hello Chris, Hello John,

I think that the Status field and the Status indicator field are not custom
fields: they are calculated by MS Project. So we don't have direct access to
there formulae.

PS : In the Help, we can find some information about such fields, such as
the following :

Status Indicator (task field)
Data Type Indicator

Entry Type Calculated

Description The Status Indicator field displays an icon which represents
the current status of a task. There are indicators to specify that a task is
Complete, On Schedule, Late, or a Future Task.

How Calculated Microsoft Project bases the content of the Status Indicator
field on the results in the Status field.

If the task is complete, then the Status Indicator contains a check mark.

If the task will occur in the future, the Status Indicator field is blank.

If the task is on schedule, the Status Indicator contains a clock with a
check mark.

If the task is late, the Status Indicator contains a clock with an
exclamation point.

Best Uses Add the Status Indicator field to a task view when you want to
get a quick visual on task status. Use the Status Indicator field in
conjunction with the Status field to be able to group, filter, or sort by
task status.

You are, of course, correct about the Status field.

When I was preparing my answer, I recalled something about one of the
on-line demos for Project and it referenced a field with a name something
like "Status" except that it wasn't the status field. Consequently, my
answer was based on a faulty assumption. Nicely caught.

Is there a description then somewhere as to what the field will indicate. It appears that the "status inidcator" presents a colored symbol based on what is calculated on the "status" field. So how do I tell exactly what it is doing to figure out if that is what I want to use or not
Thanks again
