Status of the KB908531 problem

Does anyone know the status of the KB908531 problem?

This was a security patch that MS released this past Tuesday (4/11), and
on many machines it is breaking both IE and all MS Office applications.
Removing the patch fixes the problem, but:

-It leaves the security hole that the patch fixed open
-If you have automatic update turned on, you keep getting "nagged" and
have a yellow splat in your system tray

When is a "fixed" KB908531 expected?

Other side of Easter I'd guess.

Thanks for information on this Barry

If you are not on the Microsoft payroll I reckon you should be.

Hi Barry,

For a Microsoft workaround, while they continue to investigate the method for resolving issues with the Windows/IE update (KB908531)
you may want to read the posting in the Internet Explorer 6 newsgroup by Steve Hui from Microsoft support. It's related, it appears
to certain Hewlett Packard (HP) equipment software.

Via Outlook express: (Thread entitled 'PLEASE FIX...

In a 2nd posting Steve Huit pointed out that Method 2 only appears to work for the currently logged in user.

You may want to also post/follow that newsgroup for additional information as well as the Office newsgroups (it's not an Office
patch, but it is affecting Office customers). Links you can use to get to that group are below my signature line.
