Status Updates to projects on MSP Server not displayed in PWA

Project manager updates status date in Project > Project Information as well
as appropriate fields in the tracking view such as %Complete, start date,
etc. After completing the update, project manager saves the project, and
then closes the project. However, the project remains in a checked out
status and the updated status information is not displayed in Project Center
- although the last modified date indicates correctly when the save occurred
and correct update information verified in the project. After checking the
project back in from PWA, status updates are verified still correct in the
project on the server, but still do not display in Project Center. Current
Service Packs (SP2a on server, SP2 on client) have been applied. This occurs
on seemingly random projects at a rate of about one per week out of about 80
projects on the server.

Bob:

Without additional information, one can only assume that you're suffering
from some sort of publishing hiccup in the system. Can you find any evidence
of this in the Server Application Event log? This would help narrow down the
possible causes. Also, do your project names contain non alphanumeric
characters? This can sometimes bring on this type of behavior.

Thank you, Gary. My MIS department looked at the Server Application Event
log right after I repeated the problem, and found no errors or messages. We
also looked in the time frame of the original problem, but found no erroes or
messages. So, there does not appear to be any evidence in the log. We
recently went through an extensive project schedule renaming effort to ensure
that none of the names contain any non alphanumeric characters. What would
you recommend we do next?

The next diagnostic step would be to turn on SQL profiler and watch what
happens when you process the updates. You might want to engage some more
direct and intensive support at this point.

Gary: We were posturing to follow your recommendation when we accidentally
discovered that updating the Note on the 0 row of the project clears the
problem. So, we are now waiting for the next occurrence. Thanks again!

Updating how? Can you describe what was in there?
