stencil file sharing

I set up a template so our company can make drawings easily. I put a file
path under tools/options/advanced for the templates and stencils.

The problem we have is if I have a stencil open, others in the company are
unable to access that stencil. How should I handle this?

If the stencil is open read only, then there should be no problem in
sharing.
Are your users opening the stencil in read/write mode?

I see how to save a template as read only. When it is opened in a
document, it looks the same as a read/write file. It seems to me it
should look different so you know what type of file it is. The only
difference I see is when you select edit, a message tells you this
template is read only.

I am developing template files located on my personal computer. I want
the files to be available on the network for others to use while I am
working on them. For now I save the files from my computer to the
network drive daily. If my files are read/write, how can I update easily
the files on the network drive as read only? Is there a way to open the
files on the network drive as read only, or do you have to save the
files as read only in order to open them as read only?

Hi David,

I must be tired. I used the word template instead of stencil. Sorry!

Yes, we are opening in read/write mode. I am looking into opening the
stencil in read-only mode. Specifically I am trying to get clear on how
to set this up for network use.

Thanks!
