Hello Sharon,
In order to achieve the requirement, do the following:
1. Keep the template in a subfolder (Ex: keep files under the folder template where the path for template is c:\mydrawing;
so the folder structure is c:\mydrawing\mytemplate). The name of the subfolder would be displayed under CHOOSE
DRAWING TYPE category & FILE - NEW
2. Launch Visio; select TOOLS - OPTIONS…-ADVANCED; click on FILE PATHS button; provide the parent directory path
with semicolon at the end for TEMPLATES text box (Ex: enter C:\mydrawing; if the folder Crime Scenes present under
Solutions folder. NOTE: Make sure to put the semi colon) and click the OK button twice. Then close Visio and re-launch it.
You can find the subfolder name displayed with the template on it.
Regards,
Jagadeesh Parameswaran,
Microsoft.

I have a document that is a template that I want to add to
the stencils. I want to be able to easily access this
document because it is the premise for all of the drawings
I have to do. What is the best way to have this readily
available?
