stencils should have been shapes

This will be an easy question for someone. I'm new to Visio.
I have created and saved a new stencil to hold shapes I want to use all the
time. I found the shapes I need to use from existing Visio stencils. I saved
the shapes in My Shapes folder in C: each shape has a .vss file extension but
they appear to be individual stencils - that's not what I had in mind.
How do I move those shapes from My Shapes folder over to the new stencil
named MMMI WF Stencil? I've read the online help many times. The laptop is
not recognizing "My Shapes" when I click on it from File>Shapes but I can go
to Explore and see them just fine. I'm just not understanding what to do.

Open a blank drawing, then open your MMMI WF Stencil (menu File ->
Shapes), right click and select edit.

Now use the same menu to open each of the other .vss files you
created, right-click and copy each shape and paste into your MMMI WF
Stencil.
Drag and drop will work as well.

Save and close the stencils when done.

You did it! I mistakenly thought I could drag/drop or copy>paste direct from
Explore but now I understand that each shape created as a stencil in error
must be shown in the stencils window and its contents copied individually to
the intended stencil. I am able to copy>paste but drag/drop won't work - a
circle with a line thru it appears - but that's okay I'll use copy and get it
done anyway. Thanks for your prompt feedback. Maybe I won't have to stay up
til midnight EST after all!
