Ok,

In 2003 there is no formal way to archive a Project. There are two ways
that I would recommend:

1. Save the file out as an MPP and place the file on a Network Share and
then delete the project from Project Server 2003.

2. Create a Custom Field with a multi-value field (Active / Archived / etc)
and set the project status to Archived/Closed, and filiter this out from
views in PWA Project Center....

I know that there are a few custom utilites which can help you with this,
please let m know if you are interested.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Here's the procedure I institute for project managers:

1 Set the Project State to ‘Completed’:
From the Project menu, select Project Information
Select the value ‘Completed’ in the Project State field
2 Change all resources to type ‘proposed’:
From the Tools menu, select Build Team from Enterprise
On the right side, select ‘Proposed’ instead of ‘Committed’ for the
Booking Type for each resource on the project team
3 Publish your plan:
From the Collaborate menu, select Publish, then All information
4 Send email to <insert Administrator's name here> to move the project
to the Archive folder.
5 Celebrate!
====================/
The 'Project State' field is a custom enterprise text field with gets
set by the project manager as the state changes. The values list I
have is: In Progress, Cancelled, On Hold, Completed

I've created a security category called 'Archived Projects' which deny
open and save permissions to the completed projects to project
managers. As a manager sends me the email that a project is complete,
I move it to the Archived category. This has worked well for us. When
we were audited, and some folks needed access to archived projects, I
just moved them back out of the Archived category and gave them
access.

Let me know if you want any further clarification,

Aviva
