FP Cleaner

Hit Me FP
http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/HitMeFP.htm

Note: All files are sent to the recycle bin.
Note 2: Windows 95 may need a copy of msvbvm60.dll
placed in the C:\Windows\System directory
Known issue: Opening a program via FP Cleaner may cause a
Norton firewall alert about internet access.

Download as an install file: Download File size 313 KB
I went to this site. DL'ed FP Clean as an Install file
Selected RUN
After it ran and installed, Windows Live One Care came up with this;
Virus BAT/Delwin.AZ Quarantined.

Name: Trojan.BAT.Delwin.az
Description:

A trojan, also known as a trojan horse, is simply a program that pretends to
be something else.

Why are trojans or trojan horses so dangerous? The basic idea is that you
download a program, for example one that you think is some sort a game demo.
When you run the demo, to your surprise, nothing happens. Or so you thought.

What may have happened is that you've just unwittingly run some form of
program that has planted itself on your hard drive. Perhaps it's going to be
a very basic application, and simply delete some files on your system.
Perhaps it's an even more sinister tool that will actually give other people
full access to your hard drive and system. Sounds ridiculous? It happens
literally every single day, to computer users all around the world.

FYI
I have downloaded FPCInstall.exe (insatller) from http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and scanned it with WOCL and no viruses
were found by WOCL

The file size downloaded was actually 302 KB (310,054 bytes) not 313 KB

You are right.

He is right.

I reinstalled it.

It did not have the Delwin.AZ file

It was the only install I ran at that time.

But I keep 2 or 3 webpages going at all times.

One of the other sites must has had some script that DL'ed this file;
B2095508;sz=300x250;ord=1258441294(1).htm->(SCRIPT0000) Quarantined

Windows Live One Care caught it right after installing the FP Cleaner. I
mistakenly thought because of the timing it came from FP Clearner.

That was a terrible move / thought / on my part. Very bad on my posting.

No problem.
I would rather you post it and find it's *not* an issue with the download, than have an issue that no one would bother
to mention.

One of the frustrations of creating something like FP Cleaner or HitMeFP and then giving it away for free, is that you
get very little feedback!!

Believe it or not, I sincerely appreciate your post.

Regards

I have been going through the IE history.

At the same time I was searching for a firewire cable.

I went to this site; http://cableguy.com

I was really looking for this site; http://www.cyberguys.com

This site; http://cableguy.com is in Korean and I thought it was the Firewire site and had been hacked.

I assume it was the Korean site maybe that send the Delwin.AZ

Quite possible.
