I have a copy of Office XP Pro running on a laptop with Windows XP, and
another copy running on a desktop system using Windows 2000. The version
running on the laptop has what I refer to as sticky folders; the windows
2000 system doesn't.
Imagine this situation. You are in PowerPoint and you go to insert a picture
from a file. You search through folders, get to the folder you want, and
insert the desired file from that folder. This folder contains a dozen
graphics which you will be installing throughout your presentation. Now, you
go to the next slide in your presentation and again go to install a picture
from file.
At this point, on my laptop computer, PowerPoint will remember the last
folder accessed for a graphics file and will open at that folder. This
ability to remember the last folder accessed is what I refer to as "sticky".
The last accessed folder name "sticks" and is used for all subsequent file
accesses.
On my windows 2000 system, PowerPoint always defaults to the folder
specified for MS Word's clipart files. You then have to once again go
searching for the desired folder before you can select your next picture
file.
I've looked through the Options for PowerPoint but can't find anything which
will allow me to set Office XP to be "sticky". Anyone know how to get my
Windows 2000 installation to have this same characteristic?
