Still Cannot 'Save as' after running updates

I am working from a new computer w/Windows XP home edition. Everything in my
Frontpage 2000 is working except I can't do a 'Save As' and save a new page.
I get a FrontPage.exe application error. And 'The instruction at 0x73dd11c7
referenced memory at 0x00000004. The memory could not be read. I have
downloaded all the office updates, and restarted my computer. And it is still
not working.
Step for step...I have my folders up in the box on the left side, a page on
the right. I am making changes and want to save the page as a new page. I
click on Flie, then Save as, I get my Save As box, normally after a few
seconds all my folders will come up in the window, I change the file name,
save as type-web pages, etc., and click on the save buttom. Bingo, I'm done.
However, I get the Save As window, and the folders never come up, that's when
I get my error message. And the microsoft error box, which no matter what I
click on it shuts Front page down. Help Please. This is very frustrating.

I get that too.

Near as I can tell its corrupted or odd data in the header of one of the
files that causes it.

In the "Save As" box, and the "Open Box" (try that too, I bet it will crash
as well) FrontPage reads the headers from the files themselves, as well as
off metadata in the web. IF that data fits certain parameters a crash
results. (I don't know exactly what it is.)

Here's how I usually solve the problem;

Open EVERY html file in the folder, switch to HTML view, remove extra line
breaks, comments, javascript and other stuff to make the header look
orderly.

<html>
<head>
<title>Yourtitle</title>
<meta-contents tags>
</head>

Or similar. Try not to remove stuff you are using. But get rid of
non-conforming HTML.

Save all the files and try it out. If that doesnt work...

Create a folder, make it into a sub-web, publish your entire site into the
sub web. Do that three or four times, you will need several copies of your
site.

Open one of the sub webs (check VERY carefully to make sure you are not in
your root web), delete half the HTML files (from A - P alphabetically.... do
save as... if it crashes, one of the remaining files is the culprit. If it
doesnt, one of the deleted files is the culprit. Do this with the other
webs until you have a good idea as to which file is causing the problem.
(Take notes).

When you find it, either re-create it from your template or remove all
header tags until it works.

The final step is to go back to your main web site and change the file as
necessary, remove extra sub webs when finished.

A work around; copy and paste the file in the explorer view, rename, then
open to edit. You will have to hook up the hyperlinks anyway, so there is
no loss not using save as. You don't HAVE to fix the problem if you don't
want to.

I have run into this issue 10 -15 times, and fixed it every time using a
method similar to the above. The first time was frustrating as hell, the
other times it's just time consuming.
