Still having Sound Clip Problems

Okay... I am at a loss here. I have build many presentations in Powerpoint
2003 without any problems; but I cannot get sound clips to work right in 2007.

When I add an mp3 clip to a 2007 presentation, and tell it to play
automatically, it does not play when I run the presentation. However, if I
right mouse-click (which opens the dropdown menu) and then right mouse-click
on the slide, the music plays, and it is in the middle of the clip. This
seems to indicate that the sound is playing, but in the background.

Now, for all of the things that I have tried...
I have tried other .mp3 files
I have tried .wav files
I have build a brand-new presentation and tried inserting the mp3
I have saved a presentation in 97-03 format and then opening it and trying it
I have expanded the maximum imbedded clip size to 5mb
I have tried installing new codec files on my computer
I have tried clicking on the sound clip icon and choosing "bring to front"
I have tried saving a presentation as a slideshow to see if it would play
I have tried moving both the .mp3 and presentation files to the C:\ directory
I have tried getting help from MS online free 15min help chat... no answer!

None of those made any difference. This is driving me crazy! I know it must
be some little setting or something, but I cannot find it. If anybody has
any suggestions, PLEASE HELP!

I was having problems embedding music into my presentations
and went the route of inserting the sound using custom animation
and setting up the parameters of playing the number of slides,
removing the sound icon during play and setting the sound to
play automatically or on the first click..

Just recently I found a simpler method.

Select Animations, then Transition Sounds; scroll down to
Other Sounds and browse to where your Wave files are
stored and select your background music..

Generally, music formatted in wave format are extremely
large.. I use Sound Forge (there are other similar programs)
to condense the format to change a 32MB sound file down
to 568KB...

Hope this helps..

Sound Forge will also change MP3 to small .wav files. I'm
not sure why this procedure doesn't seem to accept MP3
files??? Maybe someone else will comment..
