After the recent upgrade to Office 2004, I see that there is still no
complete Spotlight indexing of Word docs.

True, but that's a limitation of the operating system (Mac OS X Tiger)
rather than Office 2004. Microsoft *could* not have changed anything at all,
so this is not really a shortcoming of the latest SP2 update.

A workaround, apart from using other software (you mentioned EasyFind),
would be to export longer Word documents as PDF files, since Spotlight
indexes them in their entirety.

I think it's Spotlight's rule that it stops after the first 100K or whatever
the limit is, not Word's. Did you really expect an update to reconfigure
the file format for Word?
