Still scanning for viruses...?

Kenneth

Howdy,

I run Word 2000 on a Win 2000 Pro box.

It takes about thirty seconds to open a one page document with the
scanning for viruses message down in the lower left.

I assumed that the macro security was re-set too high, and took a
look. As I recalled, it was set to the lowest level.

What can I do to speed things up?

Sincere thanks,

A

Anne Troy

Sounds to me like you've got Norton Antivirus installed. Office apps don't
do this by themselves. Try the Miscellaneous settings in Norton and turn off
scanning of Office stuff.

Hope this helps!

Hi Anne,

This was driving me nuts because I had not (knowingly) changed any NAV
settings. Actually, I had found it earlier today...

In any case, I very much appreciate your response,
