Stolen Laptop...reactivate Office 2007

Hello
Question
I had my laptop stolen one week after purchase. Had Office 2007 Pro
on it and had activated it. It was OEM from Dell. I have the
original disk and product ID sticker.
I have police report, etc.
Do I have a chance that Microsoft will let me install it on another
machine and reactivate it.
If so who do I call?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but OEM software cannot be installed on a
different computer. The license is tied to the very
first computer it was installed and activated on.

It's not up to Microsoft - it's up to Dell. Since your laptop was stolen, I
assume you had adequate insurance to replace the hardware and software. That
OEM license was tied to that hardware. When you place the hardware, you have
to replace the software.

Hello,

My name is Mike, I’m a Technical Analyst at Dell corporate headquarter
in Round Rock, TX. I’m part of an internet outreach team developed t
interact with the online community regarding technical questions an
issues that customers face with Dell products. I read your question an
wanted to chime in.

If the Office CD’s are the originals that shipped with the system an
you still have the sleeve with the COA on it, you should be able to us
it. When you purchase the Office Suite from Dell you are actually buyin
it from Microsoft through Dell at a discounted price for purchasing i
with a PC. You are purchasing the license to use the software more the
the software itself. This means that you are licensed to use th
software on one PC.

The OS CD is a different story, those are OEM and will not install o
any other PC. You should be able to install the Office suite and whe
you activate it you may be required to contact Microsoft, but with CD’
and the key, along with your explanation of what happened, should b
enough to get the activation pushed through. I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Mike
