Stop automatic numbering inserting in a field

In a numeric field, if you enter a one in a preceeding
field followed by a 2 in the next field, access
automatically inserts a 3 in the following field. How can
we stop this from happening?

This unhelpful behaviour obviously got into Access by horizontal gene
transfer from an Excel team member: unfortunately nobody noticed that
Access is not a spreadsheet program until the disks were out the door.

No there is no known way of switching it off.

The good news is that there is no need ever to see the behaviour if you
don't use table datasheets. Forms are there to provide interaction with
data: use them! You will have far more control and ability to validate the
data entry; and you'll avoid the **!**!* autofill mutation.
