Stop Conversion to Hyperlink

In Office 2007 I do not want Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook to convert
a string that looks like an Internet address to a hyperlink.

I have the option unchecked in each of the applications.

Excel and PowerPoint are not (currently) doing the conversion. Word and
Outlook are doing the conversion.

I type many URLs in my business and I don't want any of them to be converted
to hyperlinks. For the minority I am totally willing to highlight the text
and select "convert to hyperlink".

How can I turn off this annoyance?

The trick is to enter it in two places in the Word parameters and then enter
it in two places in the Outlook message composer paramaters.

After that it is FINALLY turned off.

Please state exactly where to find these "parameters" in both Word and
Outlook? WHat must one click to see them and in what version of Outlook and
Word?

Un check the options first in Word 2007 and then in Outlook 2007 ...

You find the main menu by clicking that dumb office logo in the upper left
corner of the window.

Word 2007

Word Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options... > AutoFormat
In Replace uncheck
Internet and Network Paths with hyperlinks

Word Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options... > AutoFormat As You Type
In Replace as you type uncheck
Internet and Network Paths with hyperlinks

Outlook 2007
New to open Message Editor Window
Message Editor Window

Editor Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options... > AutoFormat
In Replace uncheck
Internet and Network Paths with hyperlinks

Editor Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options... > AutoFormat As You Type
In replace as you type uncheck
Internet and Network Paths with hyperlinks

(I R-E-A-L-L-Y wanted to get this conversion turned off. I finally got
pointed in the right direction by a Word MVP.)
