STOP COUNT AT"7"

How do I use the count function on a set number of cell's
but limit the count to a maximum of 8?

example:
the current formula in cell E15 is =count(A1:A10,C1:C10)

What I want to do is limit the count to 8, so that no
matter how many entries are put in to the specified cells
E15 will not show a number higher than "8".

Can you help?

=MIN(8,COUNT(A1:A10,C1:C10))
